While I love a good #ootd (outfit of the day), I also believe that the other important step to looking and feeling great each day is having a daily make up routine.  I know that everyone will have their own preferences on how much makeup they do or don't wear each day.  And I also know that some products will work better for certain skin tones and types then others but today I am giving you an inside look on what I apply each day.

STEP 1:  PRIMER
I was first introduced to HOURGLASS Veil Mineral Primer in July 2012 when I was looking for something to help my make up last all day in preparation for the hot Las Vegas Sun for my bachelorette party.  They sales associate suggested this primer and OH MY GOODNESS I am so happy that she did.  It is so smooth when you put it on and it really does help your make up stay in place all day.  I swear by this and have used it religiously over the past 4 years.  They do sell a $19 travel size version so I suggest buying that first to see if you like it.  My 1oz bottle will last me about 3-4 months.

STEP 2:  FOUNDATION or for me CC Cream
One of my coworkers a few years back told me about IT Cosmetics CC Cream.  She swore by it and her skin always looked flawless without being too heavy or cakey.  It gave her just the right amount of coverage for day time use so I figured I would give it a try.  I love it for my combination skin and the fact that it has 50 SPF is a bonus.  I use the light color in the fall/winter and medium once I get tan in the spring/summer.   I use this brush to apply it.

STEP 3:  UNDER EYE
I bounce back an fourth between two under eye products.  URBAN DECAY Naked Skin concealer in shade light neutral and Bye Bye Undereye by IT Cosmetics in shade light.  Naked Skin is a little lighter coverage while the IT under eye is thicker and has a bit more coverage.  It depends on my mood that day or if I look like I haven't had much sleep, then I will lean towards the bye bye under eye product.  Urban decay has a wand making it easy to apply while IT does not.  I just use my fingers to apply a small amount as I have learned a little goes a long way!  I use these sponges to help blend it with my base color.  I then set it all with LAURA MERCIER loose setting powder.

STEP 4:  "SCULPTING" & BRONZING
I am not going to use the word contour here because I really don't do a full face contour for my everyday routine.  I do use NARS Laguna or Casino (depending on how tan I am) to bronze my face and give it some definition.  I take this brush from my cheek to the top of ear in a straight line.  I then apply bronzer to my hair line, temples and under my chin & neck.

I use this brush and apply color Dim Light from THIS Hourglass palette to my cheekbones and temples as well to blend it all in and to give me an extra glow.

Sidetone:  I used all of Incandescent Light from this set.  It was my go to highlight for months and I love it!  I just wanted to try some new things but will probably buy the individual highlight in this color soon.  I am not a huge fan of the Radiant Light color in this set.

STEP 5:  BLUSH
I then apply a little bit of Mac Mineralize Blush in "Gentle" to the top of my cheek bones using this brush.

STEP 6:  HIGHLIGHT
I will be honest with my highlighting situation, I don't absolutely love the current color I am using.  I love the product itself but I think I went a little crazy in the store getting the lightest one possible (whoopsie) Meaning I have to be careful using it or else it looks like a silver streak on my face!  Blending is key!  BECCA in color Pearl is my current compact but I want to try MOONSTONE next. I apply a little to my cheekbones (slightly above my darkest bronzing line) and a little to the tip of my nose.

STEP 7:  EYEBROWS
I am a big ANASTASIA fan and use Brow Wiz in color Taupe to shape and fill in my brows.  It's the right kind of pencil, not too heavy and goes on in even, smooth strokes.

STEP 8:  MASCARA
I make sure to curl my lashes first with this curler from Sephora.  I swear by L'Oreal Double Extend primer.  It might seem like a waste to only buy this product for the primer, but it's still more cost effect then other brands and it really does work!  Once it is dry I then apply TOO FACED "Better Than Sex" Mascara.   I have been using this for about a year now.  I was a die hard L'Oreal Voluminous Fan forever but I do love the effect the Too Faced product has.  It manages to provide both volume and length to my lashes and I absolutely love it!

STEP 9:  POWDER
My last step for my face to apply Mac Mineralize Powder to help everything stay in place.  I use is on my lower cheeks and T-Zone where I am prone to oil the most.  I apply with this Real Techniques powder brush.

STEP 10:  LIP COLOR
While I certainly love my share of lip color in many shades, lately I have been grabbing this lip pencil and matte gloss combo from Kylie Cosmetics in color KoKo.  I heard nothing but great things from friends who were all 100% correct.  The color is not only beautiful but this gloss lasts for hours.  I can honestly say I have never had a lip color stay on as long as this product does.  I can't wait to order more colors this fall!

You may have noticed that there is no Eye Makeup Step.  That's because in my daily look, I don't wear any eyeshadow.  I am not sure where along the way I stopped doing this as a part of my everyday look but it totally happened.  That's not to say that I don't love a good smokey eye if I am going out to dinner or have something special going on, I simply opt out of wearing anything on my eyes most days.  I do have a few products I love however.  This Smashbox Eyeliner Pen, Mac Paint (bare canvas) used as shadow primer and the original Naked Palette are a few of my favs!

Comment below with your favorite products as well!  I'd love to hear what works for all of you!  As always, thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
